Some funny and unusual Rotring stuff here. Below are pictured various promotional items that were given away by Rotring to retailler and various clients. First a beautiful and quite large clock. It was battery powered and can be hang on a wall. It is made of brushed aluminium, I’ve place a Rotring 600 in front to give a sense of scale. The instruction manual provided with clock mechanism stated : © 1979. Then when have a square ashtray, built in ceramic, it measure 8×8 cm. Just below we got the lighter that goes with the ashtray. Then came a measuring tape. The tape is graduated in Feet and Centimeters and goes up to 2 meters long. The orange knife-cutter is not a product manufactured by Rotring. It was « Made in Japan » by Kaicut Cutter Company. I guess Rotring simply apply his logo on the barrel and gave it away, although I’m not fully sure that this item is only promotional. Maybe Rotring sold it at some time. Finally, we’ve got a gorgeous pin-up « directly imported from the early 80’s Germany ». It’s a strong cardboard sheet, with high-gloss printed picture glued on. The thermometer in riveted on the cardboard. the piece measure 18x21cm. That’s it for the fun stuff, more to come in a later post!
